PAT Tester Calibration Service
Regular calibration ensures that your PB500 PAT Tester provides accurate test results every time - and our calibration service is second to none.


What is Calibration?

Portable Appliance Testers need to be calibrated annually to ensure that they are measuring the correct parameters when you carry out your portable appliance checks. Your PB500 and accessories need to be checked thoroughly by a trained engineer on our premises to ensure that it is working correctly. It is then tested using special equipment to ensure that it is working correctly and giving accurate readings. The PB500 needs to be calibrated every 12 months.

Why Calibrate?

The requirement to recalibrate PAT Checkers at regular intervals is covered by Regulation No. 6 of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulation 1998. This states that the PAT Checker should be calibrated in line with the manufacturers recommendation. The process of calibrating your machine ensures that your equipment is working exactly as intended by the manufacturer, Seaward. Wear and tear frequent and infrequent usage may impair the performance of the PB500 as it is carrying out extremely sensitive electrical checks. The results indicated by the machine may be impaired if it is not checked annually as part of the calibration service which may in turn affect the outcome of any investigations carried out by the Health & Safety Executive or by Insurance Loss Adjustors.

When should I have my machine calibrated?

You should have your PB500 calibrated annually on each anniversary of your having purchased the item. Parker Bell will send you a letter in the month preceding your calibration due date to remind you that you need to schedule your calibration. It also details your options for arranging to return your equipment to Parker Bell.

How much does Calibration cost?

Calibration costs £37.95 + vat

A Calibration Certificate is provided free of charge with all successful calibrations.

In addition, Parker Bell offer a complete courier collection and redelivery service which includes all packaging, delivery and insurance for £13.00 + vat. Simply follow the procedures below, 'How do I arrange for the calibration of my PB500'


Please note: On completion of Calibration your PAT Checker will be returned to you as soon as payment is received.

How do I arrange for the calibration of my machine?

Parker Bell will send you a letter advising you that your PB500 PAT Checker is due for its’ annual calibration.

Simply complete the Annual Calibration Box Request Form and post it or fax it to us on 01392 364695. Alternatively you can send us an email including your business name and address, contact name, and serial number of PAT Tester.

Once you have received the box, please follow the instructions provided with the box carefully.

Place your machine the test lead and quick earth finder into the carrying case, and then pack into the box we provided.

Complete all the details on the calibration order form in black ink.




Collection by Courier

This service is not available if you are located in a remote part of the UK Mainland or on an island.

If you require this service please fax the order form to us on 01392 364695 when the machine is ready for collection by the courier. Alternatively you can send us an email including your business name and address, contact name, and serial number of PAT Tester.

On receipt of your fax we will arrange for a courier (Fed Ex/ANC) to collect it within approx. 2 working days.

Place the form, Machine, test lead and quick earth finder in the box along with any cheque for payment. Close the box but PLEASE DO NOT SEAL WITH TAPE.
Place the box inside the plastic courier bag we provided and seal the bag.

IMPORTANT
PAT Testers being returned to Parker Bell by Carrier must be properly packed and the box must be clearly labelled with our company name and postcode. If not Parker Bell and the Courier cannot be liable for any loss or damage.

12 month and Extended Warranties (Repair Guard Protection)


Your PB500 Portable Appliance Tester is under warranty for 12 months from the date of purchase. This means that if the machine is faulty or stops working for any reason call us and we will arrange the necessary steps. In the unlikely event that the machine is faulty we will bear the cost of repairing or replacing it.

At calibration time you may also purchase an extension to your warranty called Repair Guard Protection.

Repair Guard protection costs £22.50 + vat per tester. It will mean that Parker Bell will be responsible for the total cost of all parts, labour and carriage involved in effecting a repair and thereby giving you complete peace of mind.

Repair Guard protection will run for 12 month from calibration and it can be re-purchased annually at calibration.
