PAT Testing Training Courses
Parker Bell offer a range of small group training courses with hands-on practical training in basic Portable Appliance PAT Testing. Participants can inspect and test a variety of portable appliances, including office, kitchen and IT equipment, and learn how to carry out PAT Testing safely and effectively.


Practical hands-on PAT Testing Training Courses

Parker Bell recognise that it may be useful to attend a course to ensure that you or your company’s PAT Tester understand the details of PAT Testing. For this reason Parker Bell offer PAT Testing training courses to small groups of individuals. In some cases you may have large number of people who require training. In such cases it is possible for us to arrange courses specifically to meet your needs. Please call us to discuss.

Practical, relaxed and informal

Our PAT Testing Training Courses are specifically designed for the individuals who are going to be responsible for carrying out the PAT Testing. The courses are practical and informal and our expert PAT Testing Trainers provide a relaxed atmosphere enabling participants to ask questions, fully participate and develop confident PAT Testing skills.

Course location

Our one-day PAT Testing Training Courses are usually held in Exeter, Devon. There are excellent road, rail and air links to and from Exeter and we can provide local visitor information if required. In some instances, if you want to train a large number of people, it may be more cost effective to arrange for training to take place at or near your own premises. This is possible to arrange, please call us to discuss options and prices.

How much do PAT Testing Training Courses cost?

Our one day PAT Testing Training Courses cost from £135 + vat per person and include lunch and refreshments. Course attendance will automatically entitle you to a discount of 10% on The PB500 Easy PAT Tester Kit.


Course content

Attendees will receive step-by-step practical instruction on how to complete Portable Electrical Appliance PAT Testing safely and effectively including:

  • An introduction to Portable Appliance PAT Testing theory
  • PAT Testing legislation and current IEE code of practice
  • Carrying out visual inspection of portable electrical appliances including office, kitchen & IT equipment
  • Determining Class I and Class II portable electrical appliances
  • Testing Class I appliances
  • Testing Class II appliances
  • Testing an IEC lead
  • Testing an extension lead
  • Understanding fuse rating
  • PASS / FAIL Test labelling
  • Keeping accurate PAT Testing records and portable appliance maintenance records.
  • Plug wiring and general information about how electricity works

Course Certificate

On successful completion of the PAT Testing Training course, each candidate will receive a certificate confirming their successful completion of the course, and confirming that they have demonstrated their competence at carrying out PAT Testing.
